Tuesday Thorud-Fore hand Nuptials Solemnized in Edenton Edenton, Aug. 13—Miss Corrine Bell Forehand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lester Forehand, became the bride of Joseph Moore Thorud, ARM3c, USNR, son of Bertram Marshall Thorud and the late Mrs. Thorud of Tucson, Ari zona. in a formal ceremony Aug ust 8 in the Edenton Baptist Church with the Rev. E. L. Wells performing the ceremony. The church was beautifully dec orated with white asters, tube roses, southern smilax, ferns and lighted candles. Pre-nuptial music was rendered by Miss Agnes Chappell, organist, and just before the ceremony Miss Joyce Harrell sang I Love You Truly and Because. The bride, who was -given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding gown of mousseline de soie over taffeta, made with sweetheart neckline, edged with petite fluting, long sleeves ending in points over the hands, basque bodice outlined with the same trimmings and the fullness of the skirt forming a circular train. Her finger-tip veil of imported illusion fell from a tiara of orange blos soms. She carried a nosegay of bride’s roses and bouvardia 'show ered with stephanotis. Her only ornament was a string of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. Sister Matron of Honor Mrs. George L. Jackson, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a gown of heavenly blue net over taffeta, made with sweet heart neckline, cap sleeves, mould ed bodice with peplum and bouf fant net skirt. She wore a crown- less picture hat of heaven blue net and carried a nosegay of mix ed summer flowers tied with vari egated ribbon. Dreasler, ' RM2c, Social Calendar Carolyn Johnson Notes Birthday with Party Miss Carolyn Johnson celebrat ed her twelfth birthday annivers ary on Tuesday evening, August 7, from 8 to 11 o’clock by entertain ing a number of her friends at her home on Cedar street. The dining table was spread with a lace cloth and the pink and white birthday cake with its pink candles was nestled in the center amid mixed summer flowers and greenery. The guests were enter tained by playing bingo and other games with prizes awarded the winners. The hostess received many lovely gifts which were op ened and graciously acknowledged. The mother of the bride chose for the occasion a dress of powder blue crepe with matching acces sories and she wore a corsage of red roses. To Reside in Edenton Immediately after the ceremony the couple left for a short wedding trip. The bride traveled in a suit of white gabardine with black and white accessories and she wore a corsage taken from her bouquet. Upon their return they will make their home temporarily with the bride’s parents. The bride is a graduate of Eden ton High School and is employed as a teller and book-keeper in the Bank of Edenton. The bridegroom is a graduate of a high school in Washington and attended the University of Illi nois before entering service. He is stationed at the Naval Air Sta tion in Edenton. Prior to the wedding, the bride was entertained at numerous par ties. On Thursday, August 2, Mrs. T. C. Byrum, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Joe Truslowe were joint hostesses at a bridge supper. On Friday, Mrs. Philip Baird and Miss Jerry Lancaster entertained at a dinner party at the Hotel Joseph Hewes. Allen P. Brantley, pas tor, performed the ceremony in the presence of relatives and a few friends. The church was decorated with palms and white lilies. Mrs. Mullen Weeks sang I Love You Truly and the traditional wedding marches were used. The bride, given away by her uncle, J. W. Randolph, wore a light blue suit with white blouse and black accessories. Her flow ers were a corsage of red roses. Miss Nelle Williams was her sister’s maid of - honor and only attendant.
